Job Overview
At Scalvy, we are building intelligent, software-defined energy systems that power the next generation of AI Data Centers, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and electrified infrastructure. Our patented distributed power architecture combines advanced power electronics, embedded software, controls, and AI-driven optimization to deliver highly efficient, scalable, and reliable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems for advanced power electronics products, including enclosures, heat sinks, busbar supports, magnetic component fixtures, PCB mounting hardware, and rack-mounted systems
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and design documentation using SolidWorks
- Develop thermal management solutions for high-power systems, including air-cooled and liquid-cooled architectures
- Design and optimize cold plates, cooling manifolds, airflow paths, thermal interface materials (TIMs), and cooling loops
- Perform thermal calculations, cooling system sizing, and design trade-off analysis
- Conduct thermal and CFD simulations using tools such as ANSYS Icepak, ANSYS Fluent, or SolidWorks Flow Simulation
- Analyze temperature distribution, airflow behavior, pressure drop, and liquid-cooling performance to ensure reliable operation
- Collaborate closely with electrical, power electronics, systems, and manufacturing teams throughout product development
- Create production-ready mechanical designs with proper GD&T, manufacturing tolerances, and DFM considerations
- Support prototype builds, validation testing, manufacturing transfer, and product release activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, and design documentation
- Experience designing mechanical systems for power electronics products
- Hands-on experience with thermal management and cooling system design
- Experience with thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS Icepak, ANSYS Fluent, or SolidWorks Flow Simulation
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, aluminum extrusion, and die-casting
- Experience creating production-ready drawings with GD&T and manufacturing tolerances
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with power electronics systems above 5 kW
- Background in EV chargers, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), AI Data Center power systems, inverters, converters, or motor drives
- Experience cooling SiC, Si, or GaN power modules
- Experience with high-power-density product development
- Familiarity with IP-rated outdoor enclosure design
- Knowledge of reliability, environmental, vibration, and thermal qualification testing
- Experience taking products from concept through production release
What We Offer
- Strong learning and mentorship environment
- Collaborative and fast-paced engineering culture
- Competitive compensation and benefits
